This is an stunning oval domed frosted camphor gass spiders web brooch.  The spider is chromed with a green & clear faceted glass body which rotates around the web making it even more realistic & eerie!  The brooch is completed with a chromed filigree frame which is still in impeccable condition with no signs of rusting, cracking or softening. 
Many of these pieces were Czechoslovakian and I believe this piece to be no different.
On researching this piece I was stunned that it was around 100 years old after initially thinking it was from the 50's or 60's!  The trombone fastener & round hinge was used to date the brooch as they were used jointly for only a narrow time period.
I do believe that this was a beloved piece of jewellery, well looked after and only used on the most special occasions due to its immaculate condition.  Again, my photos do not do this piece any justice as it is more beautiful & realistic in person & would make a perfect gift for those who have a quirky nature!
 
IMPERFECTIONS:
Very small scratches/fading to the painted web design.
The trombone fasterer can be a little fiddly but works fine when its "knack" is found - an age related and soft metal issue.
